OUR PURPOSE

The Media Integrity Project exists to elevate the standards of public storytelling.

We believe journalism is essential to democracy — and that integrity includes responsibility, accuracy, and awareness of impact.

Our work applies analytical inquiry to journalism itself, examining how reporting practices, narrative framing, and editorial choices influence public understanding and lived experience.

AI TOOL FOR PUBLIC USE

Our proprietary ReporterLens™ tool uses AI to evaluate journalism within seconds by analyzing multiple signals related to accuracy, sourcing, balance, bias, context, and ethical standards aligned with professional reporting norms like the SPJ Code of Ethics.

PATTERN REPORTING & SURVEYS

The Media Integrity Project also looks to find patterns and trends by reporter. We do this through our ReporterAnalytics™ Tool. In addition to this report, we also send a SubjectSurvey to subjects of articles to receive feedback on outcomes of articles. We measure components that include business and personal impact, relationship impact, and mental health impacts. These findings combined with the ReporterAnalytics™ are presented in a report as constructive and data-driven feedback to a reporter.

COMPANION PODCAST

Humanity in Journalism is a reflective podcast featuring conversations with journalists and story subjects examining how reporting choices shape narratives- —and the real human impact that follows beyond publication.

Through conversations with journalists, editors, and media professionals, we examine the philosophies, pressures, and decisions that shape modern journalism — and the human consequences that follow when stories enter the public sphere.

OUR MISSION

Empowering Through Knowledge

At The Media Integrity Project, our mission is to ensure that equality meets opportunity through accessible knowledge and information. We strive to bridge the gap between public policy research and the wider community, promoting inclusivity and awareness. By fostering an environment of open dialogue and transparency, we aim to drive positive societal change.

We open this space up for:

Writers/Reporters to reflect on their own work

Subjects to reflect on the framing of their story

Audiences to assess framing of information

This project creates space for understanding between journalists, the people inside the stories, and the audiences who consume them.
